Bastian was born in 1975 in Opladen. After serving an apprenticeship as an ad specialist in Düsseldorf he attended university of applied sciences in Dortmund to study photography from 1998- 2003.
During that time he also worked as an assistant to several international photographers.
Since then he works as a freelance photographer mostly in the advertsing industry.
